This newsletter is written in order to spread experiences within the topic of ”historic textiles”. Our ambition is to amuse you and stimulate interest in the 18th Century. As permanent writers you will find Martin Ciszuk, MA in textile history and Laila Durán, who all work for the Durán Textiles AB company. We will also have help from colleagues and specialists from several museums and universities. This newsletter will be distributed ten times a year and is free of charge. We hope you will enjoy our articles and offers and help us to spread the letter to friends and colleagues.

Detta nyhetsbrev skrivs för att sprida erfarenheter inom ämnet ”historiska textiler” och 1700-talet. Ambitionen är att roa och stimulera intresset. Visit summer exhibitions in Scandinavia.

If you are interested in history and historic textiles there are many possibilities to see interesting exhibitions this summer. On May 27 the Museum of National Antiquities in Stockholm opened the grand exhibition ”Sveriges Historia” The history of Sweden, which shows the last 1000 years of Swedish history. The exhibition was inaugurated by his Royal Majesty the Swedish King in presence of her Royal Majesty the Queen in a warm and sunny Swedish spring evening. The inner yard of the museum was filled with guest, including many from the Swedish cultural elite.
Durán Textiles is represented in not less than three show cases. Among other things the reconstructed golden gown of Queen Margareta is on display in its own showcase, and you can see the original of the exotic and humoristic printed cotton ”Jumiping Dog” accompanied in the ...

Besök utställningar i sommar.

Är man intresserad av historia och även historiska textilier finns många möjligheter att se intressanta utställningar i sommar. Den 27 maj invigdes Historiska Museets stora utställning ”Sveriges Historia”, en utställning om de senaste 1000 åren i Sveriges historia. Utställningen invigdes av H.M. Konungen i närvaro av H.M. Drottningen i ett soligt och varmt Stockholm. Hela Historiska Museets innergård var fylld av Sveriges kulturelit.
Durán Textiles är representerade i hela tre montrar. Bland annat visas rekonstruktionen av Drottning Margaretas gyllene kjortel i en egen monter och man kan se originalet till det exotiska och humoristiska kattunet ”Jumping Dog”. En textil som får sällskap av ...

”Scandinavian Folklore”
Book release in spring 2011
In cooperation with museums and privet collectors Laila Durán has photographed folk costumes and detail of costumes in beautiful authentic surroundings. The book is a ”coffe-table-book” in part English, part Swedish, who want to present some of the spectacular traditional costumes of Sweden and Norway.
More information and photos will be available in September. The book may also be pre ordered this autumn.

Boken kommer ut våren 2011
I samarbete med museer, hemslöjdskonsulenter och privata samlare i Sverige och Norge har Laila Durán fotograferat folkdräkter och dräktdetaljer i vackra nordiska miljöer. Boken är en ”coffe-table-book” på lika delar svenska och engelska som vill presentera en del av den nordiska folkdräktstraditionen.
Mer information kommer i september då det blir möjligt att se mer av innehållet och förhandsbeställa boken.

Beautiful post cards with brilliant motifs
During summer holidays it is nice to send post cards to friends and relatives. In cooperation with Skansens Klädkammare, the textile department of Skansen Ethnological outdoor museum, Stockholm, we have had post cards printed, with motifs from Swedish and Norwegian folk costumes. The cards are in A6 size and on the reverse there is text in Swedish and English about the motif and it origin. The first series include eight summer motifs. There are two post cards of each motive in this offer.
Price of 16 post cards is 120 SEK = 12 € plus postage.

Vackra vykort med färgsprakande motiv
I semestertider är det trevligt att skicka vykort till vänner och bekanta. Nu har vi i samarbete med Skansens Klädkammare låtit trycka A6 vykort med svenska och norska dräkter och dräktdetaljer. På baksidan står information på svenska och engelska om vad man ser på bilden och var motivet kommer ifrån. Den första serien innehåller åtta sommarmotiv. I paketet ligger två av varje.
Pris för 16 vykort är 120.- plus porto.
