New made garments of printed cotton Eple.

The original fabric of Durán Textile’s printed cotton EPLE is a block printed cotton used as a lining of a girls bonnet form Løten, Norway, made of brocaded silk with a dark brown ground. The red ground of the lining was probably produced as a reserve print, leaving the berries white, and then block printed in brownish black. The print can be dated to the first decade of the 19th century. Similar prints were produced in Denmark and that might be the origin also of this fabric.

The reproduction is made as a screen print in black and white on red ground. We also did make a variant with green dots on blue ground, using a color scheme derived from similar fabrics from the same period.

Nysydda plagg i kattunet Eple. 

Originalet till Durán Textiles kattun EPLE är ett foder av blocktryckt bomull i en flickmössa från Løten, Norge, sydd av broscherat siden med mörkbrun botten. Fodrets röda botten är förmodligen utförd som reservagetryck med utsparade vita bär och därefter blocktryckt med svart. Trycket kan dateras till första årtiondena av 1800-talet. Liknade tryck producerades i Danmark och det kan möjligen gälla även detta tyg.

Reproduktionen är utförd som screentryck i vitt och svart på röd botten, dessutom har vi gjort en variant med gröna prickar på blå botten, en färgställning som är vanlig bland liknade tyger från samma period.

Three early 19th century cotton prints for Mandal Husflid in Norway.

During this spring Durán Textiles has finished a special order of printed cottons for the local craft association Mandal Husflid in Norway. In this place there is an ongoing project where a regional costume is reconstructed based on preserved original garments, with the goal to create a bunad – a Norse regional costume- as it might have looked like in Vest Agder region in the beginning of the 19th century. The possibility to hand print the old designs in India led to cooperation with Durán Textiles.

Tre tidiga 1800-talstyger till Mandal Husflid i Norge.

Under våren har Duran Textiles levererat en specialbeställning på tryckta bomullstyger till Mandal Husflid i Norge. Där arbetar man med att rekonstruera det lokala dräktskicket utifrån bevarade plagg och återskapa en bunad (norsk folkdräkt) från Vest Agder såsom den såg ut i början av 1800-talet. Möjligheten att låta handtrycka tyger i Indien med de gamla mönstren ledde till ett samarbete med Duran Textiles AB.
